We’ve set this up both ways with different containers.

Illuminate your work in progress on a light table or light box. I don’t think they would miss an opportunity like this though. It also had to be simple to assemble and economical. That helps a lot! We used a white board marker on our light table and tested it first to see if it would rub off easily and not damage the glass. But yours is definitely doable. Wow! x a.

We started our light table activity off with a fine motor and coordination play opportunity which then developed into learning and writing your name activity.

I’ve wanted to create one too, but wonder if C would even enjoy it? Pressing different materials into the salt was oddly cathartic, like raking in a zen garden or working with clay, and I couldn’t wait to see how my daughter would investigate the materials the next day. My daughter has been learning to read and recognise the letters in her name and this felt like a natural progression to continue the learning. I’m not sure what size your box frame is, but ours fit on top of a box made by Sterilite, and it’s 22″ x 16″ x 6″. I love the addition of the salt!!! This was the very first time my daughter wrote her name and it was so much fun!

But if I made one I’d share it with the kids too, of course. Writing skills – names, words, letters, numbers and shapes. Note: This light table is designed to hold salt or sand in the top layer.

(In case you were wondering, don’t waste your time with flour — I did, and it doesn’t work.) Light tables are sooo cool. Ohhh, I hadn’t really thought of recommending this for moms and dads, but YES! Run your string of lights into the bottom container. I can not find the right sized container to put the picture frame on. This is one of my very favorite things we have ever done – and my kids love it too! It really added a different dimension to the light table. Just posted a about this on Craft Gossip! I felt the same way about it when I saw photos of other light tables around the web.

If you only have one container, if it has a deep groove on the bottom, you could try using JUST the storage container flipped upside down on top of the lights. This is so cool! Option #2: You could try setting this up with the bottom container’s lid on and off. Make it as shallow or as deep as you like. I will definitely check out Target.

The pictures are so intriguing and I know I would love to play with it! I save the oddest things when I find them. This activity can be repeated with shapes, numbers, letters, words and pictures.

#kidsactivities, Eraser Slime Recipe If you have school-aged children obsessed with slime (like mine) then this eraser slime is the activity for you! Our white board marker rubbed off easily but other white board markers may not. Draw lines with the white board marker and divide the light table into four sections.
