But the new controller comes at an astronomical price. Hi i can't get the correct sound from my home theater when i connect with my TV(astro). While they are good, they aren't GREAT imo. They are also much lighter than my other headsets and they are so light that I often forget they are on my head!

Edit: Just wanted to say that I do not use a sound card ( i.e Sound Blaster Z) with these. It’s a high-quality build that doesn’t become exhausting to carry through a long gaming session. Read on to know what the A40 TR is capable of.
Astros are extremely comfortable, most comfortable headset I have ever used.
The noise cancellation on it is amazing. If the sound seems to loud or echo-y, you can turn the stereo off with a push of a button.
I was also thinking about getting the ATH M50x's, but I would have to also buy a high quality mic if I went that route and it could easily end up going over $200. Previous Next Sort by votes. I can't recommend it highly enough. I will not be listening to music at all (I don't use headphones to listen to music), but I will be using the headset for gaming and for watching movies /shows. The immersion you will get from this device is great. Still though, it’s easily the best headset I’ve ever used and is well worth the price tag. I can reassign any input from one button to another in just a few seconds using Astro’s software on a computer. One thing I do want to mention though, if you are getting a headset to blick out environmental sounds, default a40s wont do the trick, you would have to buy s modkit too. I've never worn a more comfortable over ear headset.

The stick-swapping process is interesting, requiring the use of a mini hex screwdriver (included in the box). I have been wearing headsets for countless hours in my life (pc gamer for over 15 years). As someone who has been using the same headset for around 4 years now, the Astro A40 headset has been a significant and welcome upgrade. These issues are obviously minor and easily trumped by the overall design and functionality of the C40 TR controller. The passage required to reach the USB port is supposed to be there for protection of the hardware, but Astro may have gone a bit overboard. JavaScript is disabled. While most competitive controllers settle for a few extra buttons and some programmability, the C40 TR offers silly levels of customization. This means that swapping to a more d-pad oriented game like Shovel Knight is never a time sink. It’s got a heft, without being too heavy. An example: Let’s say you have to hit a face button to reload your gun. They are also suppose to be super comfortable and that is a huge deal for me. -The mic is actually pretty damn good and it makes all of my other mics on my other headsets look like a joke. I use a $20 clip on mic that clips onto my headphone cable and it sounds great.

The Astro C40 TR is the first PS4 controller I’ve used that bests Sony’s DualShock 4. It has a large knob for the volume, a smaller one to adjust prioritizing game and voice audio, and buttons for other options. That mic is incredible. Switched to astros a few years ago an have never looked back. The only issue I really had with my Astro A40 headset was the actual phyisical Mixamp control pad device. When I first put the headset on, my ears were instantly greeted with pillows on both side of my head. From comfort to sound quality, I was really blown away. I am confused because I heard one is closed acoustic and the other is open acoustic, but I have heard that they are both closed acoustic so I don't know.
