Are you still happy with the headset? A low Dynamic Range Compression allows me to filter out those 'peaks' in volume which gives me a nice and even sound in my ears throughout my streaming sessions. My previous headset, an old pdp afterglow prismatic Dolby 5.1, was excellent for footsteps and pinpointing their exact location, but last week I lost audio, Xbox crashed and upon restarting the sound was terrible, completely changed. When gaming with games such as Fortnite, MMO's, and single player games that have sound play an important role, I wanted to make sure I customized my settings so I can hear the slightest movement in game. I use the default EQ settings because they're simply perfect out of the box! It does include Bluetooth, but this is not the wireless method used for gaming. I'm new to my Arctis 9x headset and have never owned a headset where I manually adjust the EQ. The Dolby Atmos app on the Xbox has 3 customisable presets, maybe setting these would prevent any conflict in processing? The settings I’ve screenshotted here have the compression just right for me so it doesn’t come out too muddy. I am most interested in maximizing the sound of footsteps, and would like to know if there is specific 'sliders' that I should be adjusting?

Is there anyway to keep the footsteps as loud as possible but turn down the gun sounds? Additionally, Some of the loudest and most distracting (from footsteps) sounds come from the low frequency 'bassy' blasts that come from explosions.

I tried a 3.5mm cable but just hear a buzzing due to the electrical noise from it being also connected via USB. Footsteps are most commonly associated with higher frequencies (though I have read some conflicting info) (ex- 1k, 2k, 4k, 8k, 16k). I feel like I can’t hear any foot steps :/. I’m wondering the same thing! yeah I am in the same boat, people say these are better than TB and AStro but I have had those headsets and they aren't.. When I play Fortnite, the DAC makes it a completely different experience--sounds are individualized for me when I use the "Smiley" preset. I’ve read somewhere that when using Dolby Atmos, you should not have any equalisation or processing on the headset turned on as it can conflict with the Dolby Atmos (processing is supposedly done by Xbox Atmos app not the headset), any thoughts on this? Unfortunately I have not. Then I found the custom equalizer and my goodness did the sound pour through once I set my custom setting to my liking!
