The American Indian Higher Education Consortium (AIHEC), founded in 1972, represents 37 tribal colleges in the US and one in Canada.
AIHEC is the collective spirit and unifying voice of our nation’s 37 Tribal Colleges and Universities—a unique community of tribally and federally chartered institutions working to strengthen tribal nations and make a lasting difference in the lives of American Indians and Alaska Natives. AIHEC provides leadership and influences public policy on American Indian higher education issues through advocacy, research, and program initiatives; promotes and strengthens Indigenous languages, cultures, communities, and tribal nations; and through its unique position, serves member institutions and emerging TCUs.
