The series has aspects that appeal to both young people and the older generation. The progress of the legal case was portrayed in a very believable and authentic manner. The trouble is that when everything is portentous, nothing is. When Frank Nordling learns the truth about his parents' death, his world unravels. For being filmed in small town Manitoba and using many locals for numerous roles; it is surprisingly well done. Then Sam meets a fellow normal.
Good storyline, good acting, and well directed.
Binge watched the 1st series. Burden of Truth is a first-class legal thriller mini-series. That way you can revel in the atmosphere and enjoy the performances and the broad sweep of the thing without getting overwhelmed by the not-quite-crisp-enough plot details, underwhelmed by the various payoffs or distracted by the mounting absurdities.
Writer Dennis Kelly and director Marc Munden evoke much more of THE WICKER MAN in their episodes with extreme close-ups of Jude Law's face and hallucinogenic visuals to enhance the already surreal atmosphere of Osea.

It is a beautiful mess, a puzzle with moving parts, and it explodes under ice-blue skies. Thankfully Burden of Truth gives her more compelling material, though sometimes only slightly. He finds himself drawn to the island community of Osea which is connected to the mainland by an ancient Roman causeway that is flooded for most of each day. This property even though she seems flawed makes this effort heroic..
This is one show I looked forward to this show every week and now I can't find out if there are any more episodes. Please let there be more shows to come, don't let it be over yet. I, however, am heading back to the mainland. And then we see a lot of these actual things again once Winter comes, and the second hapless traveller pitches up on the island. While North American audiences get "Summer" starring Jude Law and "Winter" led by Naomie Harris, UK audiences get a stage production called "Autumn" which ties the two together ("Autumn" will be available to stream online as well). Hopefully it will continue for a few more seasons and not get cancelled like most good shows do. The Third Day has an intriguing premise and does some world-building based on ancient Saxon, Celtic, and Christian mythology to aid in the mystery at the core of the story, but it never dives into the bizarre things we see in each episode quite enough. be brought to sense by blackmail. There are also backstories for Jude Law, Naomie Harris, and Katherine Waterston that hint at what brought them to the island but it is never developed beyond serving as a reason for them to have ventured to Osea. | Just watched the first episode and it's interesting without exaggerated sensationalism, well paced and well acted. Here, Helen's children put her into a protective stance as they unravel their discoveries on the island. The idea of The Wicker Man being thwarted by the need to evade suburban building regulations is tremendous. Kristen Kruek has found an excellent character to portray, and has already evolved from a slick lawyer to a redeemed defender.
As we meet Sam, sobbing as he floats a little boy’s T-shirt down a certain stretch of woodland river in an evidently commemorative act before saving the life of a mysterious, troubled young girl who tries to hang herself in a nearby clearing, it is clear that the makers can conjure the old atmospherics.
But you know what mysterious, pagan-rooted islands are like.
