Strava is funded mostly by the contributions of it's premium members, I have been one of these for several years and I feel that we deserve at least some response from the management to this long standing question.
Search » Home; Tools for the Strava Athlete. I like the way other sites like Athlinks shows pictures of other athletes in my area. Please fix this function as soon as possible. So please make this as low level friendly as possible! It's infuriating to meet someone on the road who says they are on Strava but not be able to find them.
I have searched for someone by full name (several case-sensitive derivations), last name only, last name/first initial and all found nothing. To add more fuel to the fire: As everyone above has stated, I am looking for is a list of athletes in a particular region with my level of training.
The main tool is an analysis of your entire history of activities, primarily to calculate your Eddington Number.
They’re known for going on big adventures and telling great stories, so why not follow a few?
Starting today, Strava’s going to look more like that place. In addition to power, there is Normalized Power, Pace (including GAP), Heart Rate, Cadence and VAM.
How about being able to search for athlete by their first name (already avaial.)
So... maybe along with the “Athletes, Activities, Clubs and Segments” pull down box, you could add a "global search" of cyclist/runners by towns/country.
Strava will recommend people you can follow.
At the moment Strava makes this impossible. Initially, you used to add a few friends, then you started looking to see where people in your area rode.
One query ... the club Eddington, Hi again Malcolm, I've updated it now - so you can add multiple clubs, Hi John, any progress with the second club issue?

It can be where you share awesome photos of your summit sunrise or slick new bike. Does Strava ever respond to the community posts or do anything about them? Location Search lets you drop a pin on a map and return Activities within a specified Max Distance (default is 50 miles), sorted by their proximity to your pin. Only by the other person following me, was I able to follow them. Hope you can fix it soon.

Therefore it would just be great if there was a possibility to search for athletes near by, i.g.
I hate having to sort through 50 people on the other side of the world, just to find a friend. I have also extended this to the club level, so you can track the Eddington Number for each of your clubs (running, cycling, etc). Within each type of activity you will find various histograms (frequency plots) showing the number ... Strava is a truly excellent company with a reliable product of world-wide appeal.

Look on your Dashboard for the Suggest Friends list on the right side of the page. Strava’s where you can be a sport nerd, hanging out with other sport nerds, and delightfully little else.
No dice, unless there's something I'm missing: my phone app feed shows me riders in Jakarta every day, the website activity search seems to contain mostly rides from 2010 - 2012. However... if they'd removed the ability to search by location after I'd paid, I'd have been absolutely apoplectic at my lack of control.
Any news when it will be possible again to search by location?

It is 4 years now, and geographical search is still not working.
By the way, I use the computer, and have no use for Apps, Facebook or any social media. One more thing: You’ll only see athlete posts from athletes you follow. If the athlete weight is known a running power estimation is available too! Here are the segments that you've favourited on Strava, maybe for future targeting or to keep an eye on how you're doing.

it would sure be awesomeness if you would sort the results of an athlete (or segment) search based on the distance the person (or segment) is from the city that i show i live in. I know you have the search icon at the top of all Strava pages. I do not have any friends that ride, but yet I would love to follow some people that live around me and to see how I compete to riders in similar conditions.
I will type in a person's name for which I have double checked the spelling, and nothing comes up. This former horse rider came to cycling through triathlon and now tells her cycling story through photos. Strava is already where millions of athletes go to record activities, track their training and connect with their friends. I agree. Get started by signing up for free.

The easiest way to quickly search for friends is to use our global search tool, the magnifying glass icon, located on the toolbar. Customer service suggested I used the Activity Search and adjusted the parameters. Load More No More. I can agree that there is some gray area for the people I am not already following. In addition to my diappointment in not being able to search for an athlete by location, I have also found that certain athletes are not popping up under my search results... PERIOD! At the present time (July 2, 2014), I would be happy if the search work AT ALL.
As Graham Sharp said STRAVA, WHAT IS THE PROBLEM? One more thing: You’ll only see athlete posts from athletes you follow. It's crazy to try to search for a friend ( or a segment name ) and have the person i'm looking for on page 20 of the results while some guy from half way around the planet is first in the list. Correction, geographic search works. This is a leap forward in our plan to build a place where you can find everything you love about your sport.
