The Federal Communications Commission's (FCC) decision allowing KERA to acquire the 91.7 FM license has now become final. KXT's on-air hosts include program director Amy Miller, assistant program director Brad Dolbeer, music coordinator Gini Mascorro, Jackson Wisdorf, Eric Bright, Nilufer Arsala, Jeff Penfield, and Paul Slavens. This week on The Local Show with Amy Miller, we heard music from pop band Andrew Douglas, Dallas-based hip-hop producer Ish D, Kalea Sinclair and more! Amy is passionate about North Texas’ local music scene and although it’s 2019, she still enjoys making a good old fashioned mixtape every once in a while. We’re celebrating Marvin Gaye’s birthday with a classic from his 1971 album ‘What’s Goin’ On.’ Plus, Gini’s New Music Monday picks and more. Brad lived in Seattle for 15 years until an opportunity came for him to return to Portland and help program the heritage station KINK.
KXT 91.7 is one of the member-supported, public broadcasting stations operated by KERA, a nonprofit organization that also includes KERA TV, KERA FM and Art&Seek. One of the few non-commercial radio stations in North Texas, KXT supports local artists and plays a unique mix of new, local and legendary music that listeners love. Since its launch in 2009, KXT has become one of the top-10 most-listened-to Triple-A (Adult, Album, Alternative) public radio stations in the country. From there she went on to work as a programming assistant at KFOG in San Francisco and moved to Virginia in 2005 to be program director at WTYD, a start-up Triple A station owned in part by musician Bruce Hornsby. In June 2009, North Texas Public Broadcasting, Inc. (KERA) announced that it was acquiring the non-commercial radio license 91.7 FM to provide a new public radio music station with broadcast coverage throughout greater Dallas, Fort Worth and Denton.
