Both mic and sound were great. The headband has enough flex and the padding on it is comfortable. Clunky over-sized packaging that I had to destroy to open up. I used it in stereo on XBOX and PC for listening to music at work.
Love the fact the mic is retractable. Remembering the AW988’s, I turned to Alienware Command Center in the hope of adjusting the surround sound profile. The headphones work fine on the Aurora R7, I just can't customize any of the audio settings. I thought that was pretty awesome. It won't have the 7.1 surround when using it with the playstation but honestly these headphones are a great option for your console too. You do have to be careful with the placement in proximity to your mouth.
The headphones are really well packaged inside a slide out inner box with the headphones themselves being very firmly held in place by two Velcro straps “nice to keep for cord management”, along with an instruction manual, a USB cable “with control module”, a 3.5mm cable, and a 3.5mm splitter. - Premium feel - They feel great to wear, and I've returned a number of other over-the-ear headphones for lack of comfort (my ears are on the larger side and these have plenty of space). When something is playing however, the outside world goes away. Yes, they sound fantastic. This keeps everything nice and clean. I love there is a physical microphone mute switch so if I'm talking over discord or ventrilo and leave my mic open, I can use a physical control instead of a keyboard shortcut to control my mic audio.
Prices and offers are subject to change. The biggest issue with headsets that I have found is getting the top band right.
Somewhat tongue-in-cheek, I would recommend these if you have a very strong neck! Comfort and audio quality are top-notch, especially given the excellent price of this headset. The leatherette headband cushion is squishy but seems like it will hold up to extended gaming sessions without collapsing in on itself. It has the futuristic appearance of the Logitech G933, steel headband of my Flights among others, ear pad material of the Steelseries Arctis line, earcup shape of the V-Moda Crossfade line of headsets and the microphone of the Logitech G533. The Alienware Command Center also has some sample audio to show off the 7.1 surround sound as well as allow you to make adjustments, and the surround sound is really impressive. The Alienware AW510H Wired 7.1 Gaming Headset does a good job at its price point.
Just as I was about to box them up, I noticed the “inside” grooves for adjustment.
Please try again. This headset is meant to be used on a PC only (maybe Nintendo Switch but check first). Performance wise there’s nothing here that inadequate, or groundbreaking. No instructions, overpackaged. Pros: - Quirks / Complaints CONCLUSION: If you are looking for bass these may not be the headphones for you but then again these are gaming headphones and they do a great job at that intended purpose. I've seen a lot of reviews by people who think they give accurate feedback, but I must say, for ALIENWARE to come out of the box with this headset, is pretty impressive to me. Bass was present but not overbearing. However, I have noticed that the microphone is a little stiff when pushing it in. One slight issue is that the headphones tend to slide off my head when tilted back too far. Given the length of the cable, I did not try to connect these to my XBOX directly; I just plugged into the controller with the 3.5 mm cable, and voila! Voices are clear and there’s plenty of boom to ambient sounds.
The computer is also where you will be able to use gaming presets to adjust the audio to your liking. Versatility. I’m going to be comparing these to my, Astro A40s and Audio-Technica M50XBT, the Alienware being a good bit cheaper that those two so we will have to see how they compare. Having the ability to pull out the microphone when I do need to use it provides much better clarity and directional sound capture than using headphones that don't have a physically separate microphone. I found the sound to be a lot better through this method.
Headset is great looking in appearance especially in lunar light color and sounds great in 7.1. I'd like to start off the review with headphones I've decided to compare them with.
For $100 it's a good deal, if on sale, it's a GREAT deal.
Sneaking around and listening to the surroundings I picked up a little bit of spatial awareness. I decided to use the USB cord as it was closest to my head (the cords are just an OK length) and the USB ports on my PC which are in the front. Not a major inconvenience but worth mentioning. I found when trying behind me, i was unable to reach the audio controls so front was the only option.
CONS It took me 3 days of using the headset before I realized it was there. After a week's worth of gaming with the headset, the weight or feel of the headset has not bothered me at all. My recommendation would be to take the time and dial in the sound settings to you have the more immersive experience.
The lunar white color is nicer than I thought it would be. The ear cups are super comfortable and the rubber on the top feel like the ones on the beats heaphones.
Configuring the ACC was simple and intuitive. CON’s: * The ear pads are comfortable and completely enclose the ear.
Sound is solid across the spectrum. Everything is recyclable so that's a plus in my book.
The ear cups slide up and down to adjust to your head size. It automatically installed two programs from Alienware.
They’ve dropped the wireless capability, changed the look using their new Legend design language and added a USB DAC to power surround sound without software. The fit of the cups is comfortable over my ears, and the adjustability of these cups is interesting in that the cups themselves slide up and down in the channels of the headband for adjustment rather than the headband itself collapsing and extending as with so many other headset models.
